Xiao’s placement in the story seemed really off and I always wondered what his reason for showing up at all wasĪren't you suppose to find the adepti to tell them about your predicament related to Morax's death? That is your main goal after you talk with Tartagalia, right? Do you even pay attention to the main story?Īlso, Xiao's story quest happens after the main story and so does the 1st lantern rite event. Fischl's hangout event is not out yet, but it will come soon. That should be the job for Hangout events or Story quest. You don't need event story just to get to know a character. I have to watch a YouTube video of her story quest if I want to find out about her through more than a text box. It's a lot easier to just re-add the already-made-stages rather than have to work to make the game re-change the open world terrain just to replay some quest. This is not exclusive to Genshin Impact and even gacha games.Īlso, while this is not impossible, I really have no idea how they will implement it on a open-world-system since most gacha game that have the ability to re-play events are stage-based games. An ever-growing game should not force new players to use YouTube videos to understand the full story.īe reminded that even in MMORPGs, there are events that have requirements that you need to fulfil before you can proceed and removed after the event ends. This might not even be in the top five concerns Mihoyo has, but it really should be. One might argue that the game cannot store these events permanently due to an issue of storage space, but then how are we expected to store future archon quests for years to come? The game is entirely server-dependant and I would not be opposed to an option to delete story mission media from my hard drive to save this space. This is not to mention that event quests have huge double standards for requirements - why must I finish the inazuma arc before I can play music in liyue with Kazuha, while I don’t need to know who Xinyan is before we take on a dungeon together? Just the basic missions from each would be more than adequate to keep in the game permanently. Joel actually found his father! That’s a huge story moment! These are things I would insist future players should experience, even without the event rewards or gameplay. Albedo has an impostor (or maybe more than one) who looks near-identical to him and may threaten his allies. We now know that Guoba is an actual god and a former friend of Zhongli Childe and Traveller are now reacquainted and understand they can trust each other when their interests and goals do not conflict. I have played three major event-based quests since joining teyvat, and it really does seem that all three carry huge story-altering changes. What? We just met? What stake does he have in my life? I would later find out that his story mission, being locked behind an adventure rank hurdle, is where he and the traveller are properly introduced. Xiao’s placement in the story seemed really off and I always wondered what his reason for showing up at all was - I met him at wangshu inn, gave him some tofu, and he then showed up to save me later in the battle of liyue harbour. She really does seem like a fun character to learn about and it sucks that I won’t get to play through it. Character stories are a core part of the game and one of the most interesting. It’s amazing how much essential character story is either placed at an improper point in chronology due to level requirements, or just omitted entirely because I didn’t know what the game was at the time the story was available. I shouldn’t be since the main story isn’t even half way over, but I am. I experienced the quests in order as soon as each were available, and I thought it would be great experiencing a story when I’m “late to the party”. There’s a lot to say about the morally questionable monetisation of this game, but from a game design standpoint, the worst feature is not one of financial incentive or grinding, it’s the game’s lack of appropriate availability for quests.įor context, I started playing just before the Yoimiya banner ended.
